Maya Lin School may lose its only art teacher!

Order a custom-designed 3D-printed Wolfy toy to support art education at our school Coming soon

Unfortunately, art education funding has been decimated in our system, and Alameda is no exception. The one remaining art teacher for our entire school may lose her job if the community can't raise $100,000. It seems like a daunting number, but I think we can get there.

Artist's Statement

When I was growing up, art was more than education. It was a refuge, a place to explore my imagination, and ultimately, the beginning of a career path. Not every child will become a creative professional, but every profession can benefit from a creative approach. Learning art taught me how to turn an idea into a drawing, a photograph, a digital experience, or even a cute little toy wolf.

This isn't a model downloaded from a website or built by AI, this is a custom-designed 3D model, created by a Maya Lin parent. I'm not a professional artist, and this is the first 3D-printed toy I've ever designed. I wanted it to move a little so I added a joint to the neck, but otherwise I kept it simple. The software I used (Blender) is completely free. Once I was satisfied with the model, I used AI tools to help me set it up for 3D printing and get the mechanical joint working properly.

I don't own a 3D printer, so I've collaborated with other Maya Lin parents and a local maker space to print these.
